Today we celebrated ‘Roald Dahl day’ , themed around his book titled ‘Colours’. We came to nursery dressed in our favourite colour and linked them to those seen in the illustrations of the text.

Buds children engaged in an interactive session utilising technology in order to share the text. Our younger learners copied the makaton signs that related to the animals that they could see in the illustrations.

After sharing the text, Blossoms children looked at the colours they would need to paint a rainbow. After each taking a turn to contribute to the collaborative art, they sang the song ‘I can sing a rainbow’.

Whilst in Blooms, we discussed our favourite colours, counting the amount of children who had made the same choice. We talked about ‘Roald Dahl’ being an author, learning what the word ‘author’ means. And then explored activities throughout the provision inspired by his classic texts.
